When we woke up it was very cloudy outside. Loading the van from the hotel was an adventure as it started down pouring! Needless to say, we were a little nervous that our tickets to the Twins vs. Tigers game in Minneapolis might be rained out. Since the game started in the afternoon, we decided to drive around and check things out from the shelter of the van instead of walking around the downtown area as originally planned.
The city skyline from the Mall of America's parking lot. (We went to the Mall of America and spent about an hour there. Record for the biggest mall in the country, right?)
The home of the Golden Gophers of the University of Minnesota (on our tour of Big Ten schools).
The Capitol of Minnesota building.
The LDS Temple in St. Paul.
The main event of the day... The Twins vs. Tigers game! It was rain delayed for a bit, but not rained out. Our tickets were up very high and thankfully under the cover of the top of the stadium. It rained like crazy and every scattered for cover and we never had to move to avoid the rain. Just to get snacks and go to the bathroom 100 times!
I was so excited to see Prince Fielder!
Scherzer pitched and threw exactly 9 pitches to get 3 batters out in a row! I'm sure it's been done before, but a guy sitting by us said that he thought that was a first against the Twins in that stadium.
Brooke was happy for part of the game. She kept cheering for the "Cougars" though, so we had to correct her a few times.
I have the funniest kids in the world! Ian's tongue sticking out all cracks me up and Eryn pretending to be asleep in this one is hilarious.
It was very cold at one point during the game and I was blessed with holding the HOT little bundle of baby through the coldest stretch. It was better than an electric blanket. OK, maybe not better, but pretty close.
One of the guys who the girls begged peanuts from and annoyed half the game took this for us. Brooke is sitting on the ground crying and not in the picture. They had very nice cameras with some seriously HUGE lenses, so I trusted them with my camera.
The Tigers won! It was a good game, even with the rain delay and a great stop on our road trip. I swear that we were the last people to leave the stadium that day. The kids all needed to go to the bathroom and be taken care of right after the game. ALL of the fans and the people who worked there were so incredibly NICE to us! Especially since we were sporting the garb of the winning road team and didn't expect them to be so friendly. The staff there at Target Field was so welcoming and genuine. We'd recommend a game there if you are in the area!
