4 Corners and Momumental Construction

Our trip to Four Corners and Monument Valley was plagued by construction and a sleeping child who really didn't want to wake up and go anywhere!

The one day that she wants to sleep in!

Mike is so good about seeing temples everywhere we go!

For those of you who aren't familiar with the "Four Corners" it is the area where Utah, Arizona, New Mexico, and Colorado all touch. There is a place where you can put your feet in two states and your hands in two other states and literally be in 4 states at one time! Cool, right? Except there were bulldozers over there and it was under construction. We did take Sam to all 4 states, just not at the same time.

Too sexy for New Mexico! Ha ha!

Look Mom I can fly!

Yes, even the area around the welcome sign was a barren waste land.

This was the back of the welcome sign. The bottom writing is Navajo. (We think.)

Apparently, this is Sam's favorite pose.

I had the pleasure (and discomfort) of sitting in the middle in the backseat. It did make for a couple really cute pictures here and there! Check out the darling little teeth.

The famous "Mittens" in Monument Valley.

"Mommy take my picture, RIGHT NOW!" Click and then she runs away. That evil glare was all ready plotting her escape route while I was clicking!

Crawford family standard- sunglasses. Our motto: never be seen in a picture without 'em! Ha ha!

These are so huge! Pictures do them absolutely no justice.

Having Sam with us was great! We had someone to take a picture of all of us when we went places. It's very rare for me to trust others with my camera.

The one picture where the girls are looking and smiling I'm repositioning. Oh well. They look cute, so it's worth it, right?

I'm not sure why I really liked this painting, but I did. The museum there had a bunch of jewelry and art work from the Navajos and a lot of information on the "Wind Talkers" from WWII who they made the movie about a few years ago. They were almost all from the Four Corners area.

Brooke's favorite pose. She did cut her 3rd tooth this week! We officially declared it discovered on Sunday.

There is a small town named Mexican Hat. It's named for this rock that looks like a sombrero that is upside down. Yes, Sam is in fact wearing the Mexican Hat in this picture!

Crawfords are HAMS!

Who me? Do you like green eggs and HAM?
The construction held us away from 4 Corners and the mud and construction kept us off of the trails in Monument Valley. Mike figured that it probably wouldn't be too much fun to get stuck in the red mud with a full car. Sporty sedans aren't designed to go off road. I think that just made Sam want to come back another time with a Jeep and really enjoy this area. We gave him a preview and his imagination is running wild!
